Joey Lauren Adams is arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. San Diego police say they booked the ''Big Daddy'' and ''Chasing Amy'' star after seeing her drive erratically

Actress Joey Lauren Adams was arrested early Friday near her home in La Jolla, Calif., on suspicion of drunk driving, police told the San Diego Union Tribune. The actress, best known for her leading roles in ''Chasing Amy'' and ''Big Daddy,'' drove her car repeatedly into the curb at a gas station, police said. The arresting officer determined that she had been driving under the influence (though no blood alcohol level information was released) and took her into custody, from which she was released later in the day on her own recognizance. The San Diego PD did not return EW.com's calls seeking comment by press time, and calls to Adams' reps have gone unanswered.

Adams, whose age is listed variously as 32, 35, and 38, first gained fame as the girl who finally deflowered Bud Bundy on ''Married... With Children.'' She earned a Golden Globe nomination in 1997 for her starring role, as a bisexual comic-book author, in then-boyfriend Kevin Smith's ''Chasing Amy.'' She followed that with her highest-profile film role to date, as Adam Sandler's love interest in 1999's ''Big Daddy.'' Her latest film, the indie black comedy ''The Big Empty'' (in which she appears opposite Jon Favreau, Daryl Hannah, and Kelsey Grammer), opened last month in a handful of theaters.
