Good news, that: Plenty of Wilco is okay by us, but those marathon CDs give us migraines, too.

THE MUSIC THAT MELTS TWEEDY'SBUTTER

''When we're recording, I like listening to older records and things that don't have words. Inevitably, after a day in the studio, you come home with the song you've worked on all day on endless repeat in your head, and I just don't have the attention to listen to new pop songs. I have been listening to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. I guess I mostly like things that help me go to sleep. John Coltrane's ''Blue Train'' is an album I listen to a lot. It helps put your talent in perspective when you hear real genius. And, actually, I can usually listen to Captain Beefheart's ''Clear Spot'' just about anytime. It was produced by Ted Templeman, who later worked with Van Halen. That's [Beefheart's]best record, man.''
