San Diego police were chasing Chasing Amy's Joey Lauren Adams, 38, Nov. 28 on suspicion of drunk driving. Adams was arrested and later released.... Glen Campbell, 67, was arrested in Phoenix for drunk driving and hit-and-run, Nov. 24. (No one was injured.) Campbell, who also kneed an officer, later said he'd ''learned a valuable lesson.''
More than a dozen small film companies sued the Motion Picture Association of America Nov. 24, claiming its partial screener ban is too restrictive, will ''chill the financing'' of indie films, and will impede their award contention. The companies seek $25 million in damages and ask that the ban be lifted. At press time, a hearing was scheduled for Dec. 3.... Michael Jackson and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, filed an invasion-of-privacy suit Nov. 25 against XtraJet, the company chartered to fly the King of Pop from Las Vegas to surrender in Santa Barbara Nov. 21. The pair alleges cameras were ''intentionally and surreptitiously'' installed in the cabin to tape attorney-client conversations for profit. A California judge barred XtraJet from peddling or releasing the illegal footage. Reps for XtraJet did not return calls.
Walt Disney Co. vice chairman Roy E. Disney (right), 73, resigned from the board of directors Nov. 30. In a scathing resignation letter, Disney, the company's last active family member, also demanded that CEO Michael Eisner step down. Disney's complaints were echoed by longtime ally Stanley Gold, who also resigned from the media conglomerate's board.
