The ghosts aren't the only ones surprised to see Eddie Murphy in The Haunted Mansion. Remember this bit on malevolent houses from 1983's stand-up album Eddie Murphy: Comedian?

''In The Amityville Horror, the ghost told them to get out of the house. White people stayed in there. Now, that's a hint and a half for your ass. A ghost says 'Get the f -- - out,' I would just tip the f -- - out the door.... I woulda been in the house and said, 'Aw, baby, this is beautiful. We got a chandelier hanging up here, kids outside playing, it's a beautiful neighborhood, ain't got nothing to worry about. I really love them, this is really nice.'

''[Ghost voice] 'Get out.'

'''Too bad we can't stay, baby.'''

Apparently, Eddie doesn't remember either; how else to explain his being stuck in a crappy kids' horror movie about being stuck in a crappy haunted house? Looks like his words have come back to haunt him.
