Gwyneth and Chris apply for marriage license. They're spotted at the Santa Barbara County Clerk's office two days after she announces her pregnancy

In California's Santa Barbara County, you can apply for a secret marriage license, though it's not too secret if the county clerk then blabs about it to the press. So it was with Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who applied for one of the confidential licenses on Friday, ''Entertainment Tonight'' reports. The news came two days after the Oscar-winning actress confirmed she was expecting the Coldplay singer's child.

Mary Rose Bryson, a supervisor in the county's recorder division, told the Associated Press that the couple had not applied for a public license, but that some licenses are granted confidentially. Such licenses must be used within 90 days in the county. (The baby is due in the summer.) The marriage would be the first for both Paltrow, 31, and Martin, 26.
