MONDAY

JANUARY 5

10–11PM Average Joe: Hawaii (NBC, TV-PG) People, it is all about David Daskal. The Carrot Top clone is easily the breakout contestant of ''Average Joe 2.'' Does he stand a chance of winning the heart of a former beauty queen? Oh, no, of course not. But the 24-year-old mail-room assistant is just one of a superb group of schmos (which, yes, does include a break-dancing nerd) that just might rival the original outcasts. And then there's Larissa Meek (left, with Fredo), who doesn't attempt to hide her dismay over the looks of her not-so-studly suitors. And I'm not going to attempt to hide my glee. B+

6:30–8PM The Day I Will Never Forget (Cinemax, TV-14) To circumcise or not to circumcise? That is the question. But the subjects aren't quite who you would think. This ''Reel Life'' docu examines the hotly debated subject of female circumcision in Kenya.

8–10PM The Postman Always Rings Twice (TCM) Why not try knocking?

Series Debut 9–10PM House of Dreams (A&E, TV-G) Host George Wendt stands by and watches 16 strangers work together to build a house, occasionally yelling out ''beer me!'' to no one in particular.

Series Debut 10–11PM Airline (A&AMp;E, TV-G) A new series that follows employees of Southwest Airlines. Employees like Susie Boersma, who once had to tell a passenger he smelled too bad to travel. (I still haven't forgiven her.)
