Director Gary Ross' Golden Globe-nominated ''Seabiscuit'' got off to a galloping start in sales, leaving its competition in the dust to claim first place among debuts and become the bestselling drama of 2003 with a purse of more than $80 million. But despite its good fortune, the Oscar hopeful couldn't fight off Sir Sean Connery and his ''League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'' for the No. 1 rental spot. Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis' spunky performance in ''Freaky Friday'' earned the Disney remake No. 3 in sales and No. 5 in rentals. Now, that rocks!
