Dave Karger sizes up the Best Actress race. Keaton and Theron are neck and neck

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH Castle-Hughes is the youngest Best Actress nominee ever

Dave Karger sizes up the Best Actress race

Predicted Winner Charlize Theron, ''Monster''
Possible Upsets Diane Keaton, ''Something's Gotta Give''; Keisha Castle-Hughes, ''Whale Rider''
No Way Naomi Watts, ''21 Grams''; Samantha Morton, ''In America''

Theron's victory at the SAG awards, which historically have been hard on smaller indie films, means she’s even more of a frontrunner than some analysts had thought. Thanks to all the media attention on Theron's phenomenal performance, voters have certainly made watching ''Monster'' a top priority. Charming 13-year-old Keisha Castle-Hughes has made a strong late surge, and Diane Keaton is a perennial favorite to challenge any newcomer, but Theron seems unstoppable at this point.
