BLESSED UNION Spears says her marriage was not a joke

At the time of Britney Spears' blink-and-you'll-miss-it marriage last month, her label called her quickly annulled Las Vegas wedding to hometown pal Jason Allen Alexander a joke that had gotten out of hand. But Spears now says she was serious when she and Alexander held their impulsive nuptials. In an interview with ''Entertainment Tonight'''s Steven Cojocaru (who asks the question on everyone's mind: ''What were you thinking?'') that will air Thursday, Spears says: ''Honestly, I really wanted to see what it was like to be married. Maybe that sounds silly, but, in that moment, I was with a friend that I love dearly and I wanted to do something wild and crazy and I wanted to get married. So that's why I did it.''

Spears says she tries to ignore media reports about her personal life, but after the frenzy that her 55-hour marriage prompted, she says she may be more cautious in the future.''I try not to pay attention to what the headlines say,'' she tells Cojocaru. ''I just focus on my work because the media always tries to capture your personal life. Since that [the wedding] happened, it's made me definitely want to think about what I do a little more because they blow it way out of proportion.''

Spears' focus for the next several months will be her tour in support of her ''In the Zone'' album, which starts March 2. She also wants to be a Bond babe. According to E! Online, MGM acknowledges that she recently met with the 007 franchise's producers in London, who MGM says agreed to see her as a courtesy. However, the studio says, there's no script yet for the next feature, and no offer was made to Spears, so the only shaking and stirring she'll be doing anytime soon is on the concert stage.
