If you live in the South or the Southwestern United States, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie may be coming to town soon, and they want to stay at your house. (Lock the doors! Hide the menfolk!) Fox announced Monday that it's about to start production on a second season of ''The Simple Life.'' This time, the scantily clad socialites are taking their act on the road. As Hilton hinted in an interview two weeks ago, the producers are putting them in a Winnebago and sending them across the country, where they'll lodge with various small-town families. (Unlike the Ledings of Altus, Ark., the host family of the initial series, ''Simple Life 2'' host families will be traumatized only for a night or two.)
''It'll be interesting to see the country through their eyes,'' Fox reality VP Mike Darnell told Variety. ''Maybe Paris will visit a Wal-Mart. I'm kind of hoping they stop at a Hilton.'' The series, which will air later this year, will shoot this spring. First, however, Bunim/Murray Productions is visiting towns like Grand Canyon Village, Ariz.; Brooksville, Fla.; and Lafayette, La. starting this weekend to audition host families. If you want Paris and Nicole to stay at your house (and if you want to risk being disowned by your own family), you can get audition details at Bunim-Murray.com.
