Morvern Callar: Photofest
PREMISE Scottish supermarket clerk Morvern Callar (Morton) quietly responds to her boyfriend's suicide by passing off his unpublished novel as her own and spending the advance on a resort holiday.
FUN FACT Like Morvern, Morton takes her partying seriously. As the film's director, Lynne Ramsay, told People magazine, ''A night out with Sam and you probably come back a couple days later.''
WHY IT'S GREAT As in so many of her movies (''Under the Skin,'' ''Minority Report,'' and now ''In America''), Morton offers a riveting, electric portrait of grief.
