Spend My Time (2004)

Black, the latest country star to find refuge at an indie label (in fact, he's a partner at Equity), too often plays the sappy balladeer (e.g., ''My Imagination''), but he'll also fortify his soft country with an R&B jolt. The opening title cut drags, but hang in for the lovely ''Someone Else's Tears'' and ''Haywire,'' a sly commentary on the networked world.
