PREMIERE

While sipping from a bejeweled goblet on the red carpet Feb. 26, Snoop Dogg called his Starsky & Hutch turn as the ghetto-fab Huggy Bear ''part of the Snoop Dogg movement.''

LEGACY

As cofounder of Stax Records, Estelle Axton, 85, who died Feb. 24, provided a home for the Memphis sound of the 1960s and '70s -- and for acts such as the Staple Singers, Otis Redding, and the Del-Rios. ''Stax and Motown were it at that time, and Mrs. Axton was very instrumental as a part of that sound,'' says Del-Rios vocalist William Bell. ''She was our godmother, and she looked after us and kept us all in line.''
