If you find yourself captivated by the anime airing on the Cartoon Network, you should get your hands on Nobuhiro Watsuki's original samurai series for the full effect. Set in Kyoto in the 1860s, Kenshin follows a wandering ex-samurai who wants nothing more than to never hold his sword again. So naturally, every fool he encounters wants to test his mettle. But what sets Kenshin apart from other ronin-on-the-rampage comics is its sense of humor; when not slashing his way through opponents, Kenshin also does laundry, cleans the dojo, and constantly refers to himself in the third person. All that and you get fantastically detailed art and fight scenes that leap off the page; a visual treat with belly laughs!
