Will Ferrell, 36, and his wife, Viveca Paulin, greeted their firstborn, son Magnus Paulin Ferrell, March 7 in L.A.... It's a girl for Two and a Half Men's Charlie Sheen, 38, and his wife, actress Denise Richards, 33. Sam Sheen was born March 9 in L.A. The proud pop has a daughter from a previous relationship.

DEPARTURES

Convicted felon Martha Stewart, 62, resigned March 15 from the board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, also giving up her chief creative officer title. She will be known as founding editorial director.

ARRESTS

Tony Curtis, 78, can rest easy now that two women were charged March 5 with unauthorized possession of account numbers and forgery after the actor lost his wallet in Barstow, Calif., last July. The pair was unavailable for comment.

COURTS

Jack White (left), 28, pleaded guilty March 9 to assault and battery on Von Bondies lead singer Jason Stollsteimer, 25, after a fight Dec. 13 in Detroit. White was sentenced to anger-management classes and ordered to pay a $500 fine plus $250 in court fees. His attorney says that the singer is ''looking forward to getting back to...making music.''... Geffen Records got the go-ahead from an L.A. judge March 15 to release a Guns N' Roses greatest-hits album despite the objection of the group's lead singer, Axl Rose, 42. Rose has claimed the release will damage sales for his long-promised Chinese Democracy and plans to challenge the decision.... On March 11, a Florida judge barred prosecutors from using photos connected to the January '03 arrest of R&B crooner R. Kelly, 36, on 12 counts of alleged child pornography. If prosecutors do not appeal the decision, charges against Kelly will likely be dropped. The singer has pleaded not guilty to similar charges in an unrelated Chicago case.... Diana Ross, 60, was ordered back to Tucson, Ariz., to finish the terms of her two-day jail sentence stemming from a 2002 drunk-driving arrest. Ross allegedly fell one hour short of completing the sentence. Her attorney, who plans to fight the order, says ''She's served her time.''

RECOVERING

Pop diva Whitney Houston, 40, who admitted in a December 2002 interview that she had abused drugs, entered an undisclosed ''facility for rehabilitation'' March 15.... blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, 28, hurt his foot March 12 while on tour in Australia. The group canceled the rest of its Australian dates and concerts in Japan and Hawaii.

PREMIERE

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's Jim Carrey (with costar Kate Winslet) predicts it will take ''a good six months'' to lose the cue ball effect. ''I'm going to go Chia,'' he reported from the red carpet March 9.

CONTROVERSIES

It's possible Congress was serious about tackling titillation. On March 11, the House of Representatives passed, by a landslide (391-22), legislation dubbed the ''Anti-Boob Bill'' to bump fines for ''indecency'' on TV and radio -- and performers -- imposed by the FCC from $27,500 and $11,000, respectively, to $500,000. A proposed Senate bill ups the fine to $275,000 per incident (capped at $3 million). Looks like that five-second delay might be around for a while.

Singer Gene Allison (''You Can Make It if You Try''), 69, of liver and kidney failure, Feb. 28, in Nashville.... Dana Broccoli, 82, who with her late husband Albert ''Cubby'' Broccoli controlled the rights to the James Bond film franchise, of cancer, Feb. 29, in Beverly Hills.... Actress Frances Dee (left), 94, who starred in nearly 50 films, including 1933's Little Women, of pneumonia, March 6, in Norwalk, Conn.... Dead Milkmen bassist Dave Blood, 47, of suicide, March 10, in Westchester County, N.Y.... Former Hollywood Reporter editor Tichi Kassel, 77, who founded the nonprofit Women in Film organization, of complications from surgery, March 8, in L.A.... Showbiz raconteur and author Michael Mindlin (Which Reminds Me, with Tony Randall), 80, of lung cancer, March 7, in NYC.
