Aretha Franklin is apparently on her way to feeling like a natural woman again. The legendary singer said Tuesday that she is ''resting comfortably'' after suffering what the Associated Press reports was an allergic reaction to antibiotics. Dr. Claud Young told Detroit TV station WXYZ that Franklin complained of feeling ill after coming home from a tour. ''[Antibiotics] gave her a rather severe reaction,'' Young said, according to AP. He added that the singer is now ''really doing well.''
''I am resting comfortably and responding very well,'' said Franklin in a statement released Tuesday by her publicist. She has been staying since Saturday in Detroit's Sinai-Grace Hospital, after doctors discovered her blood platelet count had decreased, according to AP. Franklin's publicist said in a press release that there was no word on when Franklin might be released.
