'HONK' IF YOU LIKE IT Aerosmith dig that Delta sound

Aerosmith's Honkin' on Bobo aims to be a tailgate party CD, but their less reverential spin on the blues is more promising in theory. Perhaps having made his own devilish deal, Aerosmith go full bore in upturning the music's minimalist roots, building a wall of rock so monstrous that no air gets in. Listening to the band strenuously vamp through ''Eyesight for the Blind,'' one imagines the sightless dude in question chucking his hearing, too, just for a break from the bombast. Sometimes Bobo becomes the fun J. Geils-style rave-up it aspires to be.
