Jason Patric will always remember ''The Alamo.'' Not just because he plays legendary hero Jim Bowie in the Disney historical epic (which opens April 9), but also because his visit to Texas for the movie's premiere was marred by his arrest on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest. Two days after the premiere in San Antonio, the 37-year-old actor visited Austin, where he was arrested on the misdemeanor charges early Monday morning, the Associated Press reports.
Police told AP that Patric was among a group of people milling about at 3 a.m. on a downtown street who were asked to move. Patric moved slowly toward the sidewalk but then held an aggressive stance, police said, and he shoved an officer who tried to arrest him. He was booked into the Travis county jail and released five hours later.
Patric insisted at the time that he was not drunk; the police did not test him for alcohol because Austin officers may arrest someone for public intoxication based only on their own suspicions. A statement issued by his publicist says Patric ''believes he has done nothing wrong. He hopes for a rapid resolution to clear his name.''
