Sade's band returns for its second outing as Sweetback, this time swapping the silky stylings of Ms. Adu for a vocal tag team of polar opposites: Chocolate Genius, who gruffly emotes over a rumble of heartsick soul, and newcomer Aya, who kindles an elegant romanticism. At their best, Sweetback create glossy, hypnotic mood pieces that gingerly kiss and caress.
