We've all been there before: plagued by memories, looking for meaning in the darkness beyond our bedroom window. Such early-morning epiphanies are the basis for Chris Vrenna's second concept album. Guests include Goth god Robert Smith and indie bumpkin Will Oldham, whose confessionals Vrenna -- a former Nine Inch Nail -- bathes in smoky guitars, gurgling synths, and ghastly glockenspiels. Call it Eternal Darkness of the Spotted Mind.
