ARRESTS After a bystander called the cops April 6, Orange County, Calif., police arrested 7th Heaven's Jeremy London, 31, for alleged marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license, and vandalizing his passenger's cell phone. The actor says he will be cleared of these ''false allegations.''
COURTS Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), 49, accepted undisclosed damages and a public apology April 23 from Associated Newspapers Ltd. over articles published in two London papers that said the comedian was on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Atkinson says he will donate his ''very substantial damages'' to a charitable organization.... On April 23, the Firm, Inc. sued actress Milla Jovovich (below), 28, for breach of oral contract. The talent agency claims it is owed 10 percent of the $5 million the actress earned from Resident Evil 2 because it still represented her at the time. Jovovich's rep did not return calls for comment.... On April 14, a federal judge overturned the convictions of three alleged members of L.A.'s Oriental Lazy Boyz gang, who were jailed for the 1996 murder of Khmer Rouge survivor and Oscar-winning actor Haing S. Ngor (The Killing Fields), on the grounds that the prosecutor in the 1998 trial unfairly played on jury sympathy.... Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, 17, filed suit April 15 against videogamer Acclaim Entertainment in L.A., alleging that the company is refusing to pay them $477,966 for their participation in games.... On April 21, an L.A. court reinstated part of former Friends writing assistant Amaani Lyle's sexual harassment suit against Warner Bros. Television Productions and three writers for the show. Lyle says she was offended by off-color banter among the writers. Lawyers for the show say the decision will have a ''chilling effect on all media'' and are considering an appeal to California's Supreme Court.... On April 19, Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis, 30, filed a $25 million defamation suit against a 21-year-old Texas woman who accused him of drugging and raping her in Miami on March 12. Francis' accuser, whose name has not been released, could not be reached for comment.
