Release Date: May 11, 2004; Lead Performance: Division of Laura Lee

Of the Swedish invasion bands, Division of Laura Lee were the moodiest and most shtick-less; their hard-charging Black City (2002) knocked the ties off their garage-revivalist peers. On their third album, they compare people to numbers and ponder the end of the world. Yes, it's depressing, but Division wrap their disillusionment in thick, fuzzy guitars and seductive bravado, so the songs emit an anxious energy with killer danceability.
