Q A recent episode of A&E's mortuary reality series Family Plots featured a startling full-length shot of a deceased elderly woman. Is the family's permission required to show the face of the recently departed?

A ''This is all with the participation of the families,'' confirms exec producer Nancy Dubuc, who says viewers can expect similarly graphic shots in future episodes. ''When calls would come in [to Poway Bernardo Mortuary], they would be told, 'There is a camera crew here,''' says Dubuc. About 70 percent chose to participate. ''We think that speaks to people really feeling like this is yet another way to remember their loved ones.'' Alas, perhaps too well.
