Jai’s languidly romantic songs, many of which he cowrote under his real name, Jason Rowe, showcase his strikingly androgynous voice. But at times, the tinny electronic accompaniment clashes with the 23-year-old British newcomer’s silky-smooth retro-soul sound. The high point is the lush “I Believe,” the closest this gets to heaven.
