SLOW M.O.: Cage flees one of many fireballs in sluggish, clichéd "Con Air"

Any old action flick could slap Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ''Sweet Home Alabama'' on the soundtrack to boost the energy, but only writer Scott Rosenberg (Beautiful Girls) would have a serial killer note the irony of ''a bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.'' Alas, a fistful of baroque quips and an eclectic cast are all that keep cliché-heavy Con Air's tale of a hijacked prison plane aloft. And how many shots of ex-con hero Nicolas Cage running in slow-mo from a fireball can one film contain? More than you could imagine, or muster the strength to fast-forward past. C+
