On his third solo studio album, the former American Music Club frontman backs away from the slick production of his recent work for a stripped-down sound emphasizing his rich vocals and tortured, self-obsessed lyrics. Though nothing here approaches his best work on AMC albums like Everclear, this is nonetheless a solid set of subtle melancholia.
