Details Lead Performance: Counting Crows

This two-CD live set from L.A.'s most earnest sextet cuts a wide demographic swath: The first disc is a painfully tasteful acoustic performance taken from VH1's Storytellers series, while the second disc, culled from MTV's Live From the Ten Spot, tries awfully hard to rock out but comes off as self-conscious and stiff. Which means the first disc is the keeper by default, if only because the Crows' oh-so-deep frontman, Adam Duritz, at least manages to rein in some of his more annoying vocal tics.
