TV's Repeat Offenders

Please Stop Now!

Why are these songs always on TV?

Certain songs pop up so often on television shows that we're starting to think all producers share the same CD collection. We hereby demand these overplayed tunes be off-limits.

LIZ PHAIR ''Why Can't I?''

PLAYED ON ''Everwood'' and ''The O.C.,'' not to mention movies like ''13 Going on 30,'' ''How to Deal,'' and ''Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!''

SCENE IT SETS ''Oh my God, we're so, like, in love and stuff.''

IF YOU LIKE PHAIR SO MUCH, HOW ABOUT USING... ''Supernova,'' from her 1994 album, ''Whip-smart.''

JEFF BUCKLEY ''Hallelujah''

PLAYED ON ''The O.C.'' (they used it twice this season!), ''Without a Trace,'' and ''The West Wing.''

SCENE IT SETS ''We're sad, but we're not sure we're good enough actors to convey that.''

IF YOU LIKE BUCKLEY SO MUCH, HOW ABOUT USING... ''Lover, You Should've Come Over,'' from 1994's ''Grace.''

JET ''Are You Gonna Be My Girl''

PLAYED ON ''Everwood,'' ''CSI,'' and those ubiquitous iPod commercials.

SCENE IT SETS ''We're having fun!''

IF YOU LIKE JET SO MUCH, HOW ABOUT USING... ''Rollover DJ,'' from their debut album, 2003's ''Get Born.''
