Lead Performance: Muse
--
Imagine Radiohead fronted by the late Jeff Buckley and you'll be ready for the debut from these talented Brits. Muse may lose points for borrowing too freely from their heroes, but the trio's dark, complex sound, kick-ass musicality (they're a great live band), and hook-laden songs (''Fillip'' and ''Muscle Museum'') combine to make this one of the more compelling rock records of the year.
