'ROAD' RUNNER Bridges chases down the explosive truth in ''Arlington''

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Movie Rated: R; Genres: Drama, Mystery and Thriller; With: Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins

In Arlington Road, a gleeful addition to the too-long-dormant '70s paranoia genre (see ''The Parallax View'' et al.), suburban widower Michael Faraday (Bridges) begins to suspect nondescript neighbor Oliver Lang (Robbins) is a right-wing terrorist hell-bent on blowing up... something. As Lang's creepy history unspools and Faraday's obsession spirals into pathology, the film builds to a beautifully plotted -- if totally preposterous -- parlor trick of an ending.

Reel Goodies Lang's unnerving wifey, Joan Cusack, scares the bejesus out of Hope Davis. The Last Detail After scripting ''Road,'' screenwriter Ehren Kruger was tapped to pen ''Scream 3.''
