On May 21, ''Soul Plane'''s Snoop Dogg (ne Calvin Broadus), 32, filed for divorce from Shante Broadus, his wife of seven years, citing irreconcilable differences. The rapper is seeking joint custody of their three sons.... On May 24, Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, 40, filed for divorce from estranged wife Lisa Marie Presley, 36. The couple have no children.... ''Doonesbury'' cartoonist Garry Trudeau, 55, posted a mea culpa on his website (doonesbury.com) apologizing for his May 23 strip. Running two weeks after the decapitation of American businessman Nicholas Berg in Iraq was posted online, the panel in question (which was drawn before the incident) featured a severed head on a platter. ''I regret the poor timing,'' says Trudeau, calling the image ''clearly inappropriate.''

CANCELLATIONS

Hip-hop star Missy ''Misdemeanor'' Elliott, 32, canceled her May 26 concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, after the U.S. embassy renewed a warning alerting Americans to potential terrorist attacks in the country. Elliott plans to reschedule the gig.

COURTS

On May 10, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered singer-actress Barbra Streisand, 62, to cough up $177,107 to cover the legal fees of Kenneth Adelman, the victor in a privacy-invasion spat between the parties. Streisand had sued Adelman and his company, the California Coastal Records Project, when the group posted an aerial photograph of the singer's Malibu estate on their website in May 2003. A judge dismissed the case on Dec. 3. Streisand's rep says she will not appeal the decision.... Paul Smith, the British mastermind of the game show ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,'' filed suit against the Walt Disney Co. in L.A. on May 19. Smith alleges that Disney licensed the TV series to subsidiary network ABC in a sweetheart deal that minimized profits. Smith is seeking unspecified damages.... Writers Erik Lindsay and Scott Donnelly sued ''The O.C.'' creator Josh Schwartz, 26, for breach of oral contract and fraud in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 17. The pair alleges that after verbally agreeing to develop a series called ''The Pointes'' with them, Schwartz stole their idea and presented it to Fox execs as his own. They are seeking $10 million in damages. Schwartz could not be reached for comment.... On May 28, California prosecutors filed an opposition to Michael Jackson's motion to reduce his $3 million bail, declaring the 45-year-old singer a ''flight risk.''... On May 19, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, 39, filed a countersuit against his former manager John Malm Jr. for breach of contract and fiduciary duty, and conspiracy in NYC. Reznor alleges Malm took improper control of his finances and legal documents. A lawyer for Malm says the countersuit is an ''ill-conceived response to an earlier lawsuit...to recover more than $2 million in commissions that Reznor has refused to pay.''... On May 21, a Phoenix judge dismissed the assault charges filed in March against fitness guru Richard Simmons, 55. Simmons was originally cited for slapping Harley-Davidson salesman Christopher Farney at Sky Harbor International Airport after he claimed Farney insulted him.
