Face Forward (2012)

Face Forward, Kevyn Aucoin

JUST 'FACE' IT

EW's GRADE
A-

Like its predecessor, ''Making Faces,'' this stunning book features celebrities made up to look like other celebrities, often with startling results -- Julia Roberts appears as Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis, Hilary Swank as Raquel Welch, and so on. A few of the lushly photographed incarnations in Face Forward don't quite work: Gwyneth Paltrow, for example, doesn't channel the spirit of James Dean at all. But the best shots -- like a smoldering Martha Stewart as Veronica Lake -- sizzle on the page.
