Meat is murder at Mrs. Tweedy's chicken farm in Chicken Run, where plucky hen Ginger (voiced by ''Absolutely Fabulous''' Sawalha) and her fowl friends will end up as savory English pies unless they can find a way to fly their barbed wire coop.

With a nod to POW classics like ''The Great Escape'' and ''Stalag 17'' and a winking vocal performance from Gibson as a Yank rooster who's more talk than action, this delightful stop motion animation feature from writer directors Nick Park (the Wallace and Gromit films) and Peter Lord is slightly grimmer than most children's fare, but its upbeat message of stick to itiveness, along with its flock of lovable eccentrics, gives the phrase ''chick power'' a whole new meaning.
