MUSTWORTHINESS Being frozen in carbonite would be less agonizing
than the decades-long wait for this DVD release. ''We didn't
actually plan on doing this until after all three of the
prequels were done,'' says Jim Ward, exec producer of the discs,
which will contain George Lucas' 1997 remastered special
editions. ''But we found a window of time when George could focus
on this.'' THE BOUNTY The four-disc set is a Fett accompli of
miscellanea including commentary by Carrie Fisher; a taste of
the new videogame ''Star Wars Battlefront''; 10 minutes behind the
scenes of the final prequel, ''The Return of Darth Vader''; plus the
two-and-a-half-hour ''Empire of the Dreams'' doc, which boasts
unseen footage and 40 new interviews with the likes of Harrison
Ford and James Earl Jones. NOT ON THE DVD ''The Star Wars Holiday
Special'' -- the Lucas-loathed CBS special from 1978 -- starring the
cast and featuring painful musical numbers, dull Wookiee
domestic life, and, inexplicably, Bea Arthur as the Mos Eisley
cantina bartender. NEXT The DVD collection is out Sept. 21.
