I was excited to find the Harry Potter edition of EW in my mailbox. I am a huge fan and loved the insight into the mind of new director Alfonso Cuaron. He did a great job of changing Harry Potter for the better. KYLE ROUMILLAT email@example.com Moncks Corner, S.C.
While I agree that ''Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'' is the best of the three movies, let's not forget that Chris Columbus was incredibly true to the books, while Alfonso Cuaron added in a bunch of things and took out even more. All three of the films deserve praise and recognition, as do both of their directors. EMILY BIERMAN firstname.lastname@example.org Wayland, Mass.
If I had the power, I would send the makers of ''Azkaban'' back to the studio and have them make the movie right this time. Alfonso Cuaron managed to suck every bit of joy out of the book and make a dark, dismal movie. Moviegoers have memories; we know that the Whomping Willow not only looks completely different but is in the wrong place. We know that Hogwarts used to have color, and even green grass! My recommendation to J.K. Rowling is to take back control and make movies that bring to life the story she intended to tell. ANITA REA email@example.com Erie, Pa.
Damn you, Alfonso Cuaron! Because of your discussions with Steve Kloves, ''Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'' is going to be one part instead of two! Warner Bros. will inevitably cut material that would have been in two movies. Thanks for nothing, Alfonso Cuaron. Brilliant work on ''Azkaban,'' though. Reading your recent story on ''The Simple Life 2: Road Trip,'' with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, left my mind reeling, mostly trying to comprehend how two women so outrageously stupid, so stunningly materialistic and shallow, could rule the airwaves (''Rich Girls Gone Wild!''). Girls as vacuous as this are the people the rest of us like to bitch-slap in our daydreams. Has the landscape of popular TV sunk this low? Count me out; shelling out your cash to watch this kind of tripe is worse than burning it. GREG JORGENSEN firstname.lastname@example.org Bangkok, Thailand
From reading your article on ''The Simple Life 2,'' I now see why makeup, hair spray, and platform Puccis exist. Without them, there is no way that people who are as ugly, cold, and clueless on the inside as Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie could feel beautiful or, for that matter, human. ANGELA J. Millions look to you for what's new and good, and you waste FOUR pages on the emerging rock star...JULIETTE LEWIS (''Is Juliette Lewis Crazy?'')? What are you smoking? With a wealth of incredible, REAL musical talent bubbling under the radar, you need to spend more time listening to your readers and less time listening to publicists.
