''Ferris Bueller's Day Off'''s Jeffrey Jones, 57, was picked up by Sarasota, Fla., police on July 1 and charged with failing to register an address change as a sex offender. Jones' rep says the incident ''was just a mistake and will be remedied soon.''... On July 1, Ja Rule (ne Jeffrey Atkins), 28, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving without a license after being pulled over in NYC for changing lanes without signaling. The rapper paid a $500 fine and was released.... Elsewhere in Manhattan that same night, ''Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk'' star Savion Glover, 30, was also picked up by police for reckless driving, driving without a license, and possession of marijuana. The tap dancer was released on his own recognizance and will return to court Aug. 18. Glover's attorney calls the incident ''a misunderstanding.''
On June 29 in L.A., actor Freddie Prinze Jr., 28, sued former manager Ric Beddingfield and his firm, Beddingfield Co., for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and negligence. Prinze alleges that Beddingfield gave him misleading business advice that cost him upward of $700,000 over the past four years. Beddingfield could not be reached for comment.... Jack Russell, 43, lead singer for Great White, the rock band at the center of the West Warwick, R.I., nightclub fire that killed 100 people last year, filed a $10 million slander lawsuit against former publicist Charrie Foglio, June 30 in Los Angeles Superior Court. Russell alleges that Foglio falsely told the press that Russell and his manager, Obi Steinman, stole money from the Station Family Fund, a charity for the fire victims. Foglio could not be reached for comment.... On June 24, A Slice of Pie Productions filed a complaint against Wayans Brothers Entertainment in Bridgeport, Conn., alleging that the production company behind ''White Chicks'' stole its idea for the race-swapping comedy. The Wayans Brothers' lawyer was not available for comment.
