In ''It Could Happen to You,'' Nicolas Cage shared his lottery winnings with waitress Bridget Fonda, then ultimately married her. Offscreen, Cage skipped the lottery part and went directly to the altar. Over the weekend, the 40-year-old actor married 20-year-old sushi waitress Alice Kim in a private ceremony on a northern California ranch, his publicist told People.com. The couple had been dating since February, when she waited on him at a Los Angeles restaurant, and they became engaged within two months, friends told People.
It's the first marriage for Kim, the third for Cage. His divorce from Lisa Marie Presley became final in May, though the couple actually split just 107 days into their 2002 marriage. He was also married to Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001, during which the couple filed for divorce and reconciled before splitting up for good. A previous relationship, with model Kristina Fulton, resulted in the birth of son Weston in 1990.
Cage becomes the second Academy Award-winning star this summer, after Mira Sorvino, to marry someone much younger after a courtship that began with a reading of the dinner specials. Used to be that people waited tables in Los Angeles on their way to becoming Oscar winners; now they wait tables on the way to marrying them.
