THE SCOOP Based on Melvin Burgess' popular young-adult novel ''Doing It'' and overseen by ''Freaks and Geeks'' producers Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs, ''life'' follows a group of male buddies, their folks (including D.B. Sweeney), and their female friends and love interests, including ''The Osbournes''' Kelly Osbourne. Although the series is seen through the eyes of the guys, Judah says, ''You're [also] going to meet all the parents. So we can see the environment the kids live in. It's the post-Clinton era, where parents can't just say, 'Don't do that,' because [they've] done it.''
BOTTOM LINE Judah says, ''[Our] mantra has always been ''My So-Called Life'' for boys.'' Well, then, this ''life'' could use a boy as sympathetic as Claire Danes was. The show seems kinda repulsive to us -- boys muse about a virgin girl, ''There's something about being the first guy THERE...'' There's something about being the first show canceled...
