'COMPLEX' CONTESTANTS CARL AND BRAD
CONCEPT Eight real-life couples go to a ramshackle SoCal building. They renovate and decorate, and then present their finished living spaces to a panel of experts. All without killing each other first.
THE SCOOP There's an ejection element: ''The team responsible for the losing room -- that has the least value -- has to toss a couple off,'' says Ted Haimes, executive producer. Eventually, four couples remain, their apartments are sold at public auction, and the winners get money. The challenge, says Haimes: ''Do you get rid of the stronger couples? Or do you get rid of the weaker couples who get in the way of progress?''
BOTTOM LINE Or do you just turn the damn channel and thank God you can call the super if the AC stops working?
