LOWE AND PANTOLIANO
Robert Voets/ CBS

CONCEPT Rob Lowe as a doctor working in a casino run by his pal, ''The Sopranos''' Joe Pantoliano.

THE SCOOP Well, you know how old folks throw out their elbows on the slots and those showgirls are forever straining their hamstrings...? Joey Pants helps us out on the believability of the premise: ''I'm the general manager. One of the reasons why I give my best friend a floor of suites in my hotel to have a full-service trauma care unit is to be a full-service casino. It's all [about] making the customer happy, because if the client's happy, he stays.''

BOTTOM LINE Lowe's Sunday show, ''The Lyon's Den,'' died quickly last season, and this attempt to jump on the Vegas bandwagon (''CSI,'' ''Las Vegas,'' ''The Casino'') won't hit the jackpot as weekend filler either.
