Rapper Twista was lucky to be alive after a single-vehicle accident early Monday that injured him and several others and killed his bodyguard, the Associated Press reports. According to Pennsylvania state police, the ''Slow Jamz'' rapper and his crew were in a van on Interstate 90 outside Erie, Pa., at 4 a.m. on Monday when the vehicle hit the median and rolled over several times. The 30-year-old rapper (real name: Carl Mitchell) and four other men were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released. Bodyguard Arthur Dixon, however, died at the hospital.
Twista, who sold a million copies of his album ''Kamikaze'' earlier this year, was scheduled to perform in Albany, N.Y., on Monday, but the show was canceled so that headliner LL Cool J could be with his wife after surgery, according to a statement released by the venue. Police have not filed charges against Twista's driver and are still investigating the cause of the crash.
