Hugh Hefner may be pushing 80, but that doesn't mean he can't be the leader of a worldwide crime-fighting team. That's the premise of ''Hef's Superbunnies,'' a half-hour cartoon in which the Playboy founder runs a secret squad of curvy commandos from deep within his lair at the Playboy Mansion. Hefner and his collaborator, Marvel Comics guru Stan Lee, have been shopping around the pilot for more than a year, and finally, according to the Hollywood Reporter, it's been picked up by MTV.
The idea for the X-Men-meets-Charlie's-Angels series came from Lee, Hefner told the Reporter, though he quipped that it wasn't entirely fictional. ''Stan and I go back a long ways, and he simply felt it was time for me to reveal my secret identity,'' Hefner said. ''You all know me as the editor in chief and publisher of Playboy. But late at night when everyone assumes I'm in the grotto living the good life, I'm out there with the Superbunnies fighting evildoers.'' Hefner added, ''It's going to be more than just an action show. It's going to be very satirical with a lot of cutting-edge aspects to it.'' Right, Hugh, and we read your magazine for the articles.
