The System Has Failed (2004)

Details Release Date: Sep 14, 2004; Lead Performance: Megadeth

Dave Mustaine needs some love. Not only did the much maligned frontman have a teary meltdown at the feet of his ex-Metallica bandmate Lars Ulrich in the documentary Some Kind of Monster (he was booted for his boozing in '83), but he only recently recovered from a nerve injury sustained in 2002 after he slept on his arm the wrong way. So we're happy to report that Megadeth's 10th album, The System Has Failed, is also their best since their fourth, 1990's Rust in Peace. Mustaine wisely takes it back to the '80s, teaming up with original axman Chris Poland. That means dual guitar solos on most of the 12 tracks. Righteous!
