Who knew that 79-year-old Elaine Stritch would be the only winner to get bleeped by the censors? Accepting her award for outstanding variety performance for her one-woman Broadway show Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, she said: ''I try not to drink, but s---! ... Look at the company I'm in, and I'm so glad none of them won!'' Not willing to have her acceptance speech cut short by the orchestra, as it was at the Tonys last year, she said: ''I'm not moving from here until someone comes and gets me,'' rattling off a list of thank-you names before finally relinquishing the podium and providing host Garry Shandling with a running joke for the rest of the evening. Best riff came from Chris Rock, in a bit shot at the urinals in the Shrine Auditorium men's room, asking Shandling and Ray Romano: ''Who the hell is Elaine Stitch?''
