'LET ME BE' Spears and Federline prove it's their Prerogative when they decide to get married

Hitch me, baby, one more time. For the second time in nine months, Britney Spears got married in a ceremony that was a surprise to everyone, including her closest family members. According to TV's Access Hollywood, about 20 relatives of Spears and fiancé Kevin Federline attended what they thought was an engagement dinner on Saturday at a private home in Studio City, Calif., only to find that the couple were getting married then and there, not in October, as previously announced. Spokespersons for Jive Records, Spears' label, confirmed the surprise nuptials to Reuters and the Associated Press.

Details of the ceremony, according to Star magazine: the bride wore a white strapless dress designed by Monique L'Huillier, complete with a long veil and tiara. The groom wore a tux custom-designed by the tailor at whose home the ceremony took place. The couple read their vows and danced to the tune of the Journey ballad ''Lights.'' Guests dined on chicken fingers, ribs, crabcakes, and Waldorf salad.

It's the second marriage for Spears, 22, and the first for dancer Federline, 26. Spears notoriously married hometown sweetheart Jason Alexander at an impromptu Las Vegas ceremony in January but annulled the marriage 55 hours later. She began dating Federline in March, even as Moesha actress Shar Jackson was expecting her second child by the dancer. Spears and Federline announced their engagement in June. Paparazzi had been salivating at the prospect of a fall wedding, hyped by a nuptial-themed video for Spears' cover of Bobby Brown's ''My Prerogative,'' which hinted that she'd marry Federline on her own terms. Looks like she wasn't kidding.
