Long before he landed on the radar of Conor Oberst fans, the Pixies' frontman had been steadily releasing solo albums. Frank Black Francis bookends Frank Black's fame cycle. The first disc is a demo of songs made in 1987; the second is a new recording of those songs tricked out with atmospheric production touches in which he finds a dormant penchant for vocal nuance.
