TUESDAY

OCTOBER 26

8-8:30PM It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (ABC, TV-G) Sure, there's the existential angst and the conflict straight out of Waiting for Godot, but what really sets this Halloween classic from the House of Schulz apart is its celebrity worship. Linus and Sally sit out in the pumpkin patch all night, skipping normal child's play (i.e., trick-or-treating) to catch a glimpse of Linus' elusive idol. These celeb-stalkers-in-training were an inspiration to kids who couldn't imagine life past the next commercial. For this, we salute them.

LITERARY LEGEND ALERT! 8-9PM Gilmore Girls (The WB, TV-PG) Author Norman Mailer does a flyby. Were the Nobel laureates unavailable? I mean, a Pulitzer winner's cool and all, if that's the best you can do . . .

9-10PM How They Won (The History Channel, TV-PG) What gets presidents elected? Well, it helps to have a half-wit brother. Or one who's governor of Florida.

10-11PM NYPD Blue (ABC, TV-14-LV) The Sipowicz curse goes nuclear when God's favorite whipping boy gets shot. By now, even Job is shaking his head saying, '' Dude, sucks to be you.''

10:30-MIDNIGHT* The Political Dr. Seuss (PBS, TV-G) So the Lorax and Horton really were agents for social change? Rock. On. *check local listings
