Julia Roberts' planned maternity leave from her film career may have begun two months prematurely. The actress, seven months pregnant with twins, was hospitalized Saturday in Los Angeles when she experienced early contractions, People.com reports. The contractions subsided, but she remains under observation, and doctors have recommended bed rest until she delivers her boy and girl in January. Though her condition is reportedly not serious, it's likely to keep her from making the rounds to promote the two movies she has coming out this winter, Ocean's Twelve and Closer.
Roberts had said in recent interviews that she plans to take an indefinite break from filmmaking after she and husband Danny Moder become parents, though she's also signed on to film the romantic comedy Seven-Year Switch with Closer director Mike Nichols at a still-undetermined date. Meantime, she went ahead on Sunday with a previously scheduled baby shower, except that the party was moved from her house to her hospital room.
