Janet Evanovich, author of the best-selling series featuring bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, introduces a new supercute heroine in Metro Girl: Alexandra Barnaby, who leaves her Baltimore home and heads to Miami in search of her missing brother. Just how cute is Barnaby (Barney to friends and family)? Well, she's the kind of gal who addresses the reader by saying, ''Okay, so I'm a bleached blond and I like pink. Get over it.'' But as she experiences one madcap adventure after another, accompanied by an equally clichéd and annoying NASCAR driver, you'll find it so difficult to follow that you won't get over much about her personality. She's like that restaurant dinner companion who finds herself so wildly amusing she's failed to notice you've long been signaling for the check.
