Leave it to the Wachowskis to recycle Mary Shelley's tale as a guns-a-blazin' mix of Wild West action and neo-theological sci-fi — and in the process both intrigue and confound us. The concept comes from Steve Skroce and Geof Darrow, artists who helped design The Matrix; the under-rated Skroce handles the book's dynamically dense visuals.
